2011 Academic Project

Challenge

Museum Bahari is a maritime museum in Indonesia. Indonesia is a maritime country, and 2/3 of Indonesia is sea.The maritime in Indonesia has a lot of history, power, and also mightiness. The vision, mission and the goal of amuseum Bahari are to be the biggest museum in Indonesia, to be a pride, to grow the love as a maritime country. Besides, also to be in the same level with other maritime museums in the world, to be information and study sources about maritime in Indonesia, and especially toshare and grow the power and the love of history and maritime. Unfortunately, this vission, mission and goals aren’t reached yet. Since Indonesians don’t care about the maritime and history, also the Museum Bahari itself. The museum is also so small, and lack of facilities. Though the entry ticket is so cheap, it doesn’t attract people to come and care yet.

Solution

So, I choose to make a logo redesign and all of the brand identity of Museum Bahari to show what they want to show and share, and also to attract people to do come and care. I choose Phinisi as the object of logo since Phinisi is one of historical boat from Indonesia. The one and only boat with seven sails, which has its own meaning. The meaning of these seven sails is : Phinisi is the first boat that can sail through seven islands and seven large oceans in the world. i choose a darl grey-blue color, inspired from nawasanga color to show the history side. Serif font is chosen in order to show history visual in typography.

Challenge

Based on my interest to fairies and fairytales, a typeface that is suitable for them is needed. The characters that needed inside the font are feminity and imaginative.

Solution

Celtic is a decorative font. It has no serif, and is flexible. The shape and flexibiity shows both feminity of woman and imagination. So this font is suitable to show either beauty or beautiful imagination.

Challenge

In food advertising, it is too general to use the photo of product only. To take a photo of the donuts in the box is not easy also. Donuts in the box and the box itself need different amount of lights. In case to get the right and food colors for each.

Solution

To attract consumers, I make a christmas version advertising for JCO. JCO Donuts are sweet and colorful, that’s why i make a concept of Christmas and Present. Sweet and colorful donuts in Christmas will bring a lot of joy to consumers. In pthe photography, i took two times to shoot the box, and then to shoot the donuts. To make them precision, I used tripod for my camera. Without moving both donuts and box, and set the lighting that was suitable for each shot. Then i edited the two photos and brought them together in one photo. I shot 6 photos of photo model with different poses to show the joy that jco donuts bring to consumers.
